Call for Proposals
“Celebrating Canada's Sesquicentennial Journey”
Association for Canadian Studies in the United States (ACSUS) 24th Biennial Conference
The Tuscany Suites and Casino, Las Vegas, Nevada
October 18-21, 2017
2017 marks the 150th anniversary of Confederation. All over the world those who have Canadian roots or interests will be pausing to reflect on the challenges and achievements the country has experienced over its growth and maturation. As usual, the 24th Biennial conference of ACSUS will welcome papers and panel proposals from graduate students, independent scholars, and academics that deal with any aspect of the Canadian experience (including comparative studies including Canada). But this year we especially encourage papers that take stock of some aspect of the country's development since 1867. In doing so, we hope to make Canada's sesquicentennial journal the central theme of our meeting.
Proposals should be sent by email to the most relevant Section Chair on the Program Committee (or to James McHugh, Program Chair, email@example.com). For a full list of the Sections and their heads, go to the "Program Committee" tab. Proposals must be received by May 15, 2017 and confirmations regarding participation should be sent out by mid-to-late June. Paper presenters and panel participants must be ACSUS members in good standing, and they must pre-register for the conference by August 30th or else their paper will be dropped from the final conference program.
Paper proposals must include:
- a tentative title;
- author(s) and affiliation(s);
- a brief 150 word summary of the argument, methods, or topic of the paper.
Panel proposals must include
- a tentative title for listing in the conference program;
- names and institutional affiliations of all panel participants;
- a brief 150 word summary of the topic of the panel, identifying why and how it will be of interest to ACSUS conference attendees.
