Fulbright Canada is pleased to announce that the competition for Fulbright Canada Research Chairs is open for awards to be taken up in the 2025-26 academic year. American scholars looking for a research opportunity in Canada are welcome to apply. Applications will be accepted until September 16, 2024.
Awards range from US $25,000 to US $50,000 and from four to nine months.
These opportunities are open for a start date of September 2025 or January 2026.
American scholars are invited to collaborate with Canadian researchers tackling the world’s biggest challenges, such as climate change, food security, health, and artificial intelligence. Canadian institutions are eager to welcome talented and driven American scholars and researchers to their campuses and work on collaborative research and innovation needs.
New Awards
Fulbright Canada is excited to announce new awards available for American Scholars for the 2025-26 academic year.
The Fulbright Canada Entrepreneurship Initiative is an innovative new program that identifies and supports promising professionals, students, scholars and independent researchers who are interested in bringing their ideas to market. The program is open to all areas, with a preference for projects with identifiable social impact. In addition to the grant, the program includes FCEI group activities, significant networking and mentoring support, and other features designed to support and encourage entrepreneurial success.
Awardees receive entrepreneurial guidance from Startup Science, gain entry into Alacrity Canada’s accelerator program, tap into networks of venture capitalists, and learn the practical application of research findings to commercialize entrepreneurial projects.
We offer multiple application pathways for scholars, students, and professionals.
Fulbright Canada Scholar Entrepreneurship Awards: These awards support scholars conducting research in Canada, providing the necessary resources to transform innovative ideas into successful entrepreneurial endeavours. Applications will be accepted until September 16, 2024. Awards are US$12,500 for four months, with start dates in September 2025 or January 2026.
Fulbright Canada Short-Term Entrepreneurship Awards: Designed for professionals, students, and scholars aiming to bring their ideas and expertise to market, these awards provide the tools and knowledge necessary for entrepreneurial success. Applications will be accepted until September 30, 2024. Awards are US$10,000 for four weeks, with start dates in 2025.
Fulbright Canada Entrepreneurship Awards for Specialists: These awards facilitate short-term collaborations on curriculum and faculty development, institutional planning, and various other activities at Canadian institutions. Specialists receive the resources needed to turn innovative ideas into successful entrepreneurial endeavours. Applications are accepted throughout the year.
