The preliminary program includes over 500 presentations in 115 panels, roundtable, plenaries, and receptions over 5 days in more than a dozen disciplines. The ACSUS Biennial conference, established in 1971, is the leading international academic event focusing on Canada and its relationship with the United States, North America, and the world. Major academic presses and publishers give you access to the newest publications on Canada and Canada-US relations.
Conference Sections: Anthropology, Sociology and First Nations; Arts—Visual and Performing; Business, Trade and Economics; Gender, Identity and Diversity; Geography, Resources, Environment; History; Border Issues and Migration; Foreign Policy and Defense; Literature in English; Literature in French; Politics and Public Policy; The North; Quebec and the French Presence in North America; Education; Canada in Comparative Perspective; Life Sciences and Technology. Poster Sessions are also planned.

All conference participants (ACSUS members and non-members) must pre-register by August 21, 2009 to reserve their place on the program. Discounted group rate at the Westin Gaslamp available to ACSUS attendees until October 22, 2009. Deadline to apply for grants isAugust 21.

International
Limited travel support is available for international presenters (outside Canada and the US). Travel stipends (if granted) are only sufficient to offset a small portion of expenses. To apply for a travel grant, please submit your name and departure city to info@acsus.org and type 'ACSUS Travel Grant' in the title of the message. Deadline to apply for grants isAugust 21.
Student

The U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and the U.S. Department of State (DOS) have announced that as of June 1, 2009, U.S. law will require Canadian citizens to present either a valid passport or another accepted travel document to enter the U.S. by land and water. Canadian citizens aged 15 and under will be able to present a birth certificate or a citizenship card instead of a passport when travelling to the U.S. by land and water.
